Volleyball Dominates and Wins Elmore County Block Party
WETUMPKA, Ala. - Wetumpka volleyball hoisted the Elmore County Block Party Tournament trophy on Saturday after finishing the day with an impressive 4-1 record.
The team exited pool play as the first seeded team in the pool after defeating both Marbury and Elmore County 2-0. The Indians dropped one match in pool play to Prattville, two sets to one.
The Indians continued the momentum into bracket play, and won their semifinal matchup against a familiar face in Elmore County. This time, the Panthers forced a third set that ultimately belonged to the Indians.
The Indians shut out the Chilton County Tigers two sets to none to clinch the championship, winning the first set 25-13 and the second 25-20.
The team had a total of 32 serving aces across the tournament.
Senior Camryn Foote led the team with 28 kills. Carlynn Chumley added another 25 kills and senior Cheyenne Boshell tallied 18 kills and led the team with 52 assists.
Libero Ashlynn Turner led the team in digs with a whopping 81. Jillian Hand joined the action with 19 blocks at the net and 15 kills.
With the championship win, the Indians have won nine of their last ten matches and look to continue the momentum on Tuesday, Sept. 23 against Percy Julian.
