WBB Caps 3-Game Win Streak in Dominant Fashion
WETUMPKA, Ala. - Women's basketball moved to 9-2 on the season after rattling off three wins last week against Tallassee, Elmore County, and Chilton County.
The girls got off to a hot start to the week against Tallassee, winning 60-37 against the Tigers. Queen Ballard led the charge for the Indians, earning a double-double with 15 points and 17 rebounds. She added four blocks for an impressive showing.
Sophmore Logann Banks was right behind her, earning a double-double of her own with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Banks highlighted her defensive ability against the Tigers, adding four blocks and two steals.
Charlisa Gibbs made the most of her action against the Tigers, knocking down 2/3 three pointers for an efficent shooting night.
In the rematch against Elmore County, the Lady Indians left nothing to doubt, winning by a margin of 50, 63-13. The Indians had nine different players score against the Panthers, with three in double figures. Queen Ballard recorded another double-double, with 10 points and rebounds. Logann Banks led the team with 12 points. Freshman Mya Richardson finished the night with 11 points, going 3/7 from beyond the arc and highlighting her sharpshooting ability. Aaliyah Humphrey showcased her versatility at the guard position, scoring 7 points, tallying 7 rebounds, and recording 7 assists. She added three steals to her totals.
On Friday, Dec. 5, the Indians closed out the week with a 58-22 win over the Chilton County Tigers. Four Indians recorded double-digit point totals, with Ballard leading the team yet again, this time with 17 points. She added another 16 rebounds and three blocks, recording a double-double in all three of the Lady Indians' games last week. Lalah Culpepper finished the night with 11 points and two steals. The guard tandem of Lexie Smith and Mya Richardson rounded out the Indians in double digits, both finishing with 10 points. Smith tallied three rebounds, three assists, and four steals for an impressive showing for the Edgewood academy transfer. Richardson added 6 assists, 3 rebounds, and 4 steals.
The Lady Indians will play another three games this week: Monday vs Marbury, Thursday at Prattville, and Friday at Tallassee.
