Flag Football Continues Building in Spain Park, Helena Doubleheader
HELENA, Ala. - Wetumpka Flag Football scored the program's first ever points during the doubleheader against Spain Park and Helena Tuesday night in Helena, Ala. The Indians fell short 20-7 and 13-0, respectively.
The touchdown came thanks to a run from Lexie Smith to put Wetumpka on the board. Spain Park is coming off a State Championship runner-up finish last season. In that playoff run, they scored 27 or more points in all but one round. Wetumpka held the Jaguars to 20.
The defense continued to show strides as Wetumpka limited Helena to just 13. The Huskies finished the day 1-1 after losing 40-19 to Spain Park.
Wetumpka continues its pursuit for progress in the inaugural girl's flag football season on Wednesday, Sept. 24 when it takes I-85 to battle with Auburn High School.
