Indians Back in Win Column After Win at Rehobeth 49-18
REHOBETH, Ala. - The Wetumpka Indians (2-3, 1-2 6A Region 2) dominated the Rehobeth Rebels (1-3, 0-2 6A Region 2) on Friday en route to a 49-18 victory.
The Indians got off to a slow start after the team's charter bus broke down in Troy, Alabama and caused a 20 minute delay to kickoff.
Rehobeth won the coin toss and elected to recieve, and marched down the field to score a touchdown and take an early 6-0 lead.
Wetumpka quickly bounced back with a drive culminating in a 7-yard touchdown run from Jordan Hill, and with an extra point from Cryus Bullock, the Indians took a 7-6 lead.
On the ensuing kickoff, the J.D. Denmark succesfully recovered an onside kick to give the Indians back-to-back possesions.
QB Charlie Skipper threw the first of five touchdowns through the air on a 36-yard completion to senior Andrew Voyles.
Deon Floyd hauled in another touchdown on a 55-yard completion and finished the night with four receptions for 86 yards.
Kaleb Ballard continues to lead the team in touchdowns with five this season after hauling in two more on Friday night.
Sophmore running back Jordan Hill tallied 160 yards on just 12 carries and added another two touchdowns.
Defensively, Keiland Thompson led the Indians with 14 total tackles that includes three tackles for loss.
The senior linebacker tandem of Walt Myrick and Logan Fawcett both tallied nine tackles each.
The Indians will travel to Eufaula to take on the tigers on Friday, Sept. 26. The game will be broadcast on 105.1 WRFS and the Wetumpka Sports Network Facebook and YouTube channel with coverage beginning at 6:30.
