Indians Enter Region Play at Russell County

WETUMPKA, Ala. - Wetumpka football travels to South Seale, Ala. this Friday as the team takes on Russell County in the 6A Region 2 game of the season.
The Indians lead the all-time series over the Warriors 11-4. The two tribes have faced off in each of the last three years, with Wetumpka winning the first two times, and Russell County winning 21-17 last year.
The Warriors are coached by Dillon Griggs. The fifth-year coach got his start as a student assistant at Troy University in 2010, the same team that Indians head coach Bear Woods won a Sun Belt Championship with as a linebacker.
It's a tale of two very different teams. While Wetumpka has a fully reloaded roster, Russell County retains many of its starters from the year prior.
"I think our advantage is going into the game is that we have so many new faces." Coach Woods said. "I mean, our guys are unknown to them except what they see on film, and I'm very confident in what what our guys are accomplishing."
