Wetumpka Travels to Beauregard in Football Season Opener
OPELIKA, Ala. - Wetumpka Indians football is set to begin its season this Friday against the Beauregard Hornets. For the second straight year, these two open the season with each other, this time with the Hornets playing host.
The Indians come off a 7-4 season and 4-2 third place finish in area play. Beauregard enters after a 5-6 season. The Hornets fell in the first round of the AHSAA 5A Playoffs.
Coach Bear Woods begins his fourth season as the head ball coach for the black & gold. Having made the playoffs each of his first three seasons, he is the only coach in school history to accomplish that feat.
Beauregard will debut its new coach in Shenan Motley. Motley joins the team after six years with Wadley High School, where he won the 1A state title last season.
