Indians Baseball on Four-Game Win Streak
WETUMPKA, Ala. - Wetumpka baseball has hit its stride over the past week with four consecutive victories. The Indians took down Prattville on Tuesday night after last week's win over Pike Road and doubleheader sweep against Park Crossing.
After suffering a loss to Prattville Christian last week, the Indians looked to right the ship on their visit to Pike Road on Thursday. Aidan Peake set the tone with a solo blast to left field to take the lead in the fourth inning. That would be the deciding run after both teams scored three runs in the sixth. Wetumpka beat the Patriots, 4-3. Asher Nobles earned the win with three strikeouts over five innings. Dylan Jordan was credited with the save thanks to his two scoreless innings and four strikeouts.
The Indians returned home to face off with Park Crossing in a Saturday afternoon doubleheader. Things quickly went Wetumpka's way after a 13-run first inning. Wetumpka would win by a run rule in game one, 15-2. Game two featured a slower start, with Wetumpka holding a 4-2 lead entering the fifth inning. A three hit, three walk and two HBP inning allowed eight runs to be scored and give Wetumpka its fourth run rule win of the season.
Tuesday night, the Indians struck first against Prattville with a sac-fly from Kyle Richardson to send Aidan Peake home. Following four straight scoreless innings, Prattville stole the lead with two runs in the top of the sixth. The Indians matched and raised the Lions though with five of their own. A four-hit inning including a go-ahead two-RBI single from Peyton Dickey catapulted the Indians back into the lead, 6-2. Wetumpka would earn the win over the seventh-ranked team in Alabama.
Wetumpka now sets its sights on a home clash against 5A Beauregard. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased HERE. The game will be broadcast on 105.1 WRFS, The Wetumpka Sports Network on Facebook, and Wetumpka High Athletics Live on YouTube.
