2B Lexi Smith Named FCB Athlete of the Week for April 27

WETUMPKA, Ala. - 2B Lexi Smith of Wetumpka Softball has been selected as this week's First Community Bank Athlete of the Week.
Smith's selection comes off a week where softball won all six of its games. Over the six game stretch, Smith tallied a batting average of .550, with two triples and a home run.
On April 21, the Indians traveled to Pike Road and defeated the Patriots 15-5. Smith picked up a triple and two walks, scoring three times in the Indians victory on the road.
On Wednesday, April 22, softball hosted its senior night in a 12-1 run-rule victory over Tallassee. Smith was a perfect 4-for-4 on the night, with 4 RBI's and three runs scored.
Over the weekend, the Indians participated in the Tallassee tournament, playing two games on Friday, April 24 and another two on Saturday, April 25.
The first game came down to the wire, a 11-10 victory over St. James. Smith went 2-3 on the night, with an RBI and a walk.
Smith added another triple later that afternoon in the 6-2 victory over Lee-Scott.
On Saturday, the junior went 2-4 in the 9-3 victory over Brewbaker Tech.
The final game of the tournament was against River Region foe Elmore County. Smith added another hit with a run scored and RBI in the Indians 10-2 win over the Panthers.
Smith and Wetumpka Softball will be back in action Tuesday Night, as they travel to face the Thompson Warriors in the final regular season game before hosting the area tournament this weekend.
