PF Queen Ballard named FCB Athlete of the Week for Dec. 8

WETUMPKA, ALA. - Senior PF Queen Ballard of the Wetumpka Girls' Basketball team has been selected as the First Community Bank Athlete of the Week for Dec. 2.
Ballard, a transfer from Coosa Central, has been a standout presence in the paint for the Indians so far this season. She leads the team with 11 ppg and fg efficiency with 57%.
Her dominance continued last week scoring double figures in each contest that the Indians played last week, the team going 3-0.
During the Indians' first game of the week against the Tallassee Tigers, Ballard led the team in scoring with 15 points. She snagged 17 rebounds, earning her first double-double of the week, and added four blocks to the stat sheet. Wetumpka secured a 60-37 victory over Tallassee.
During the Elmore County rematch, Ballard scored another 10 points with a remarkable 71% efficency from the floor. She added 10 rebounds to record another double-double, and included another three blocks for good measure. The Indians won 63-13 in dominant fashion.
In Friday night's game at Chilton County, Ballard dominated again, recording another double-double, marking one for each game played last week. She finished the night with 17 points, 16 rebounds, and three blocks.
The Lady Indians will face off against the Marbury Bulldogs at 6:00 on Dec. 8.
