SS Bailey Carlisle Named FCB Athlete of the Week for Mar. 2

WETUMPKA, Ala.- Softball shortstop Bailey Carlisle has been named the First Communtiy Bank Athlete of the Week for Mar. 2. Carlisle's selections comes off a busy week for the Indians that saw them play seven games, including hosting the Wetumpka Softball Tournament this past weekend.
Over that span, she went 13/24 at the plate with a .565 batting average including 12 RBI's and 7 extra-base hits.
On Feb. 24, Carlisle recorded an RBI triple to start off the week in the Indians 7-1 victory over the Calera Eagles.
The Indians were back in action against Opelika on Feb. 25, where she tallied a 2/4 night with a run, rbi, and a double.
The Indians then turned to the weekend, where the senior was lights out, helping lift the Indians to a 5-0 record at the Wetumpka Softball Tournament.
On Friday, she went collected a hit and RBI against Southside High School in the Indians 3-1 win.
Later that night, the Indians faced off in the biggest game of the season thus far, against the Moody Devils, the reigning 5A State Champions.
Carlisle went 3-for-3 at the plate, and picked up a 3-run homerun to give the Indians a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. She scored two runs as well in the Indians walk-off 5-4 win over the Devils.
The Indians played three games on Saturday, Feb. 28. The first, a 5-4 win over the #41 nationally ranked Curry Yellow Jackets. The shortstop picked up 2 runs and 2 RBI's in a 2/3 showing at the plate.
The Indians dominated the Handley Tigers 12-1, where Carlisle went 3-for-4 at the dish with all three hits as extra-base hits. She drove in five runners with a homerun and two doubles and scored three times.
To close out the tournament, Carlisle and the Indians hosted the Ariton Tigers. The Indians picked up the 10-0 victory, where Carlisle scored a run and recorded a double.
The Indians' softball squad will be back in action Tuesday, Mar. 3, as they travel to Holtville to take on the Bulldogs.
